Clashes between the heavyweights of English football is a mouthwatering prospect. Liverpool and Chelsea rivalry in the Roman Abramovich era has always been spicy. The last two years have witnessed more Liverpool wins. However, Chelsea is a different proposition this year with the addition of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. The late additions of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota have put Liverpool in prime position for another assault at the Premier League Title. However, will Liverpool win at the Roman Colosseum, or are they in for a rude awakening?
Though the new Premier League is in its infancy, the rivalries are old. It raises the excitement levels to a new level. The premium games between the title rivals are always a fascinating watch. Moreover, the Liverpool and Chelsea game never disappoints. The matchup was evenly fought in the previous edition even if the spoils went to Liverpool. The latest acquisitions of Werner and Havertz make Chelsea fearsome and unpredictable. They had the game won at Brighton without shifting gears. However, they lacked in the midfield department losing the possession cheaply to Brighton.
CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL
A brief history is always welcome. Frank Lampard and Klopp are never shy of voicing their opinion. Both were respectful in their press conferences. However, there were shots aimed at Klopp by Lampard. And Klopp did return the favor. Benitez and Mourinho are no longer at the helm but Chelsea against Liverpool is never far from the drama. Chelsea plays their true selves at the Bridge and most often comes up with the win. However, Liverpool has not lost more than once to Chelsea in their last 10 fixtures.
Gone are the days when Chelsea out dueled Liverpool with the strength and power of Drogba or the slippery but dazzling feet of Hazard. The current Chelsea is all about pace. Timo Werner brings ruthless finishing. In the other German wonder-kid Kai Havertz, Chelsea has the talent to break open defenses. Much will depend on the concentration levels of Liverpool Defenders as Van Dijk and Gomez are having a minor blip in form. The newly revamped Midfield with Thiago Alcantara may come too soon for the battle of the Bridge.

Exciting duels all over the pitch are promising. However, the main event will be the matchup of Van Dijk and Werner. Werner’s pacy movements are very direct and lethal. The offside trap may spoil some of his forays into the penalty box. However, he needs only one chance to bulge the net. Van Dijk and Gomez’s understanding and concentration levels need to be at the maximum level to keep the Chelsea attacks at bay.
BATTLE of THE BRIDGE
Liverpool’s away-day woes at their title rivals’ home ground are fresh and painful despite their recent much-awaited title party. Liverpool has not been able to win at Old Trafford or Etihad or the Emirates. They need to step up their levels to outduel Chelsea. Chelsea’s spending spree has assaulted themselves into Title contention. However, the pressure that comes along with the Title tag is one they have to overcome. The latest chapter of Chelsea against Liverpool is soon to commence. Let the battle begin!
