OFellow Liverpudlians ! Let’s Discuss Liverpool ! Let’s Talk Some Reds !

Liverpool are finally the English Premier League champions. Liverpool fans are not accustomed to hearing that phrase in recent years. They are often ridiculed when they faced reminders of their recent slip-ups. But here we are after Liverpool are crowned premier league champions before the season reached its climax. They dominated the league in every aspect in such a way that at times it felt that the other teams were on a different league. But was this season a one-off or are Liverpool on the cusp of a golden generation?

Potential of TAA

The potential of Trent Alexander-Arnold is one truth that points to a future peak. He is only 21 but has won everything including the holy grail Champions League. He is the current leader in assists in the last two seasons which were his first full seasons as a Premier League player. Moreover, the statistic list containing all of the best-attacking players in Europe ranks him in the top ten. He is a little weak in defending but his vision and attacking forays alone is enough to gain a permanent spot in starting 11 of any team. His vein of form will alone create opportunities for the forward line on par with Manchester city’s genius midfielders.

Weak competition

People are putting faith in the assumption that the recently closed season was a fluke and Liverpool will not dominate the league. It is a folly considering how far ahead they were above everyone else. They were 25 points ahead of Man city’s 100 point team whom many believe were the best 11 assembled. Even after a dip in form in which Liverpool has won only 3 in 8 games they still have 19 points lead in the top. Moreover, their closest challengers City have lost the pillars of their recent title success in Kompany and David Silva. City also have conceded a similar number of goals as Manchester United. Chelsea and Spurs are in transition as are the former guards United and Arsenal.

For any dynasty, you need a genius. Talk about Barcelona without Messi or Chelsea without John Terry and Frank Lampard. They would not have similar domination in their past without them. Liverpool has in their team Virgil Van Dijk who would have won the Balon d’Or in the last two years only to find Messi or pandemic ruining it. Being a dominant center back and a vocal leader, he has transformed Liverpool from having the leakiest defense to the best in class. Moreover, his aura and presence will alone no doubt bring fear and despair to opposition attackers.

Jürgen KLOPP

Then over everything you have Klopp. The charismatic German has turned Liverpool from also-rans to perennial winners. He has done the difficult part of removing the burden of carrying their past glory. Moreover, he has made Liverpool World champions and European champions and more importantly Premier league champions. Klopp is never satisfied and never dwells on the past glory. He gets inspired by it. His inspiration and drive alone will be enough to create another Liverpool dynasty.

Young prodigies

Liverpool have in its DNA of turning academy graduates into household names. Gerrard, Fowler, Mcmanaman, Owen, and Carragher are legendary names who came out form the academy. Trent is the most recent one. The youth prodigies namely Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Neco Williams have a great pathway before them and are in good hands with Klopp being at the helm.

Liverpool’s history

Liverpool have an amazing history of title success. They are English champions for the 19th time. Moreover, they have retained the trophy 6 times which is more than the number of times City became champions. Defending the Premier League title is tough and grinding but Liverpool’s success in retaining the English crown points toward a Liverpool repeat. Be prepared citizens for another Guard of honor.
